My rights and responsibilities

Rights tell us how we should be treated. For example, you have the right to be treated with respect and to be communicated with appropriately. You have the right to be treated fairly whatever your age, religion, place where you were born, whether you are gay or straight, male or female. You have the right to be supported with your health.

Within the boundary of any multiagency agreements that may be in place, you may also have the following rights:

  • to be as independent as you can be
  • to choose the people who support you
  • to education
  • to seek relationships.

Rights come with responsibilities – and your responsibilities are to stay within the bounds of all agreements you have made – from your tenancy agreement to any multiagency agreements that may be in place. To stay within the law. And to help all those working on your behalf by taking positive steps to achieving your outcomes.
